Happy Farmer portrays the human experience of addiction by conveying the disturbing pleasures of escapism against the guilt and shame of reality. While roaming a dilapidated city after the collapse of society, the player stumbles upon an abandoned arcade and finds a single functioning cabinet. The inner farming game offers a simple, serene contrast to the bleak outer world, mirroring the spatial layout of the arcade to provide a seamless transition between the two distinct worlds.
